Reflections of Doug's Professional History
I graduated from Wayne State University in 1989 with a Master's Degree in Social Work. Since, I have been providing mental health and substance abuse treatment in private, outpatient settings. I am presently operating a private practice in Broadview Heights. My passion has always been to work in a private practice setting where I can bring my personality and combine the administrative and clinical skills that my professional background has polished.
I have an extensive work history with Magellan Health Services, the Cleveland Clinic and the private practice industry. With Magellan, I worked with corporations providing employee assistance services which included counseling employees and their families but also consulting and coaching employers and their work groups. With Cleveland Clinic I provided Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) services and acted as Program Coordinator, overseeing the IOP programs at three Cleveland Clinic locations. Private practice has availed the opportunity to further dedicate myself to helping individuals, partners, spouses and their families through the pain and suffering caused by addictions and mental health problems.
Historically, I am from the Detroit area. There, I worked for Magellan Health Services as both an Account Manager and Employee Assistance Professional. I also practiced part time in my own private practice setting. My beginnings included work as a mental health and substance abuse treatment therapist with Eastwood Community Clinics and the Oxford Institute, a part of St. John Health Corporation.
Given my background and experience coupled with my dedication and passion, I find myself tremendously committed to helping people find the happiness and peace they deserve.
